Herb Farm

The herb farm was established in 2024 and is located at Ulleråker Gård—just a short bike ride along the Fyrisån River from Uppsala city center.
I began growing herbs in my own 100m² garden here in Sweden. Soon, the space became too small to meet production needs, so I searched for new land to expand. Today, I cultivate 500m² of herbs, and my goal for 2026 is to grow that to 1000m².

Healthy soil

Healthy soil is essential for producing high-quality herbs and potent remedies. It provides the nutrients needed for optimal growth and synthesis of essential oils. In a thriving, regenerative soil system, beneficial microorganisms enhance nutrient uptake, promoting strong, aromatic herbs with maximum medicinal properties.

Ethical & ecological foraging

At Nordiska Örter, a selection of herbs is gathered in the wild nature around Uppsala. Our foraging site is located 40 minutes from Uppsala center, nestled 5 km into the forest away from the main road.

We harvest wild plants with deep care for nature. That means:

  • Never overharvesting and rotating between spots year after year
  • Harvesting a mix of plant sizes to avoid selecting only one type, so all sizes can keep reproducing.
  • Keeping track of foraging sites to monitor how populations change over time

This way, we ensure that the herbs we gather stay available—wild and thriving—for generations to come.

High-quality drying for potent remedies

The herbs are dried within a few days of harvest at low temperatures to preserve their natural color, aroma, and potency. This gentle process ensures that you get herbs full of life—vibrant, fragrant, and effective.

Diversity That Feeds the Land

The herb farm grows a wide variety of plants from different botanical families, including the mint family (Lamiaceae) and the carrot family (Apiaceae) attractive to wild pollinators like bees, butterflies, and flies.

The garden includes annuals, biennials, and perennials, creating a long flowering season from May to November. This continuous bloom supports a wide range of beneficial insects throughout the growing season.

Growing herbs alongside vegetables attracts pollinators and beneficial insects that aid pollination and control pests, supporting organic farming without harmful chemicals. This creates a thriving, resilient ecosystem that supports both plants and wildlife.
